Hey guys, it’s been a little quite here for a while so I wanted to drop a quick update on what I’ve been up to and what’s been going on in my life.
I Ran a Tabletop Convention
That’s really the bones of it! I’ve not posted on here because I’ve been hard at work planning and running a tabletop convention at one of my country’s coolest venues. All proceeds from the event went to charity (the Cancer Society, who put millions a year towards supporting patients during treatment and funding research into better treatments).
To say it was a massive undertaking would be an understatement. This was unlike anything I (or the charity involved) have ever done.
We had Board Games, TCGs, TTRPGs, Tabletop Wargames and all kinds of other stuff going on. Everyone had a blast.
The crazy thing to me is overseas these events are so part-and-parcel in the tabletop world, but here in New Zealand nobody’s really done an ‘all under one roof’ kind of event like this.
And Now Back To It
I won’t bore you with all the details of the event, but that’s what’s been keeping me so busy all these months. With that all done and dusted (at least until next year’s event) I can put some time into finishing off all the pieces I have lined up to go here.
There’s some more pieces coming in the Designs Insights and Running the Sandbox series’, as well as some pieces talking about other systems and what we can glean from them for our own games (regardless of system). I’m also interested, as more One D&D content gets released for playtesting, in talking about my thoughts on the direction of D&D as we enter into the biggest change the modern audience has ever experienced first-hand.
Thanks for sticking around!
